Harappan Religion, Art and Craft.

The development phases has took a turn in their religions, art and craft production. Some of these can be studied as follows. Religion The Harappan people workshipped female Goddesses. The workship of female Goddess associated with fertility has long being health as one of the major features of Harappan religion. There was a discovery of a large number of teracotta figurines laded as "Mother Goddesses" (Sakti) . The Harappan people also workshipped a Marry God represented as a stetite seal doscovered at Mohenjodaro . He is flanked by an Elephant, Rhinocerose, water Buffalo and Tiger . John Marshall saw a striking resemblences between thise deity and shiva of the later Hindu mythology. The Harappan people also practiced the workship of trees and animals . The Harappan seals, sealings, amulets and copper plates , depicts a number of trees , plants and animals , some of which have/had cultic significance. SOCIETY The people who live in the Harappan zone comprises of villagers and city folks. Harappa city included occupational group such as farmers, herders, hunters, gatherers, craft-person, fisher-folks, merchants, traders, sailors, ruler's, administrative officials, ritual specialists, architectures, carpenters, brick Mason's, well digger's, boat maker's, sculptors, shopkeepers, sweepers, garbage collectors, etc. Some farmers may have lived in the city and tiled their land nearby. The level of social defensation may not have been as it Mesopotamia and Egypt, but difference in house size and hoards of jewellery indicate a concentration of wealth and defences, socially and economically. The different social group have comprised of the rulers, land owners and merchants. Both Harappa and Mohenjodaro had a Citadel and these was possibly occupied by members of the ruling class. Decline of the Mauryan Empire

The Mauryan Empire being the first ever sub-continent empire have greatly attracted the Scholars attention on its aspects,from its rising to the decline of the Mauryan Empire. There is something almost dramatic in the way that the empire had decline after the dead of Ashoka , thus the decline was completed within half a century after the dead of Ashoka. The reasons given by historians and scholars were as conflicting as they were confusing .  Some of the causes for the decline of Mauryan empire were; Partition of the Mauryan Empire:  One of the major reason for the downfall of Mauryan Empire was the partition the had took place after the dead of Ashoka. The Empire was divided into two halves i.e. The Eastern and Western parts.
